Expanding our horizons

Newsletter June 2017

Summer is here, so it must be time for our summer update! As always, things have been moving forward at Guide ID. We’re proud to update you on our latest news in this newsletter.

This February, the 100-millionth story was listened to on a Podcatcher: a special moment for us, and one we really celebrated with our customers. The counter is still keeping track of listens, so we look forward to hitting 200 million!

With so many stories to be told, the Guide ID team has been growing. We’re now present in Germany, for instance, and our Dutch head office has been expanded with an account manager, two helpdesk staff, a designer, and four new developers. You can get to know them on our website.

We attended two industry events in the United States earlier this year: Museums and the Web, and the American Alliance of Museums’ annual conference. Both events were a great success. We also have several promising events lined up to attend in Europe. Later in this newsletter, you’ll find out where you can meet up with us in the next few months.

Enjoy reading, and we hope your summer turns out beautifully!

Projects in the Spotlights

Stedelijk Museum-Anne Frank house-CMA-Powerscourt-USS Midway museum

A number of really great projects were launched in recent months. One was the Ed van der Elsken exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam that attracted 271,000 visitors, most of whom listened to the audio tour.

We are proud to announce that we have become partners of the Anne Frank House. This world-renowned venue has no fewer than 600 playback devices and provides its audio tour in nine languages. All its films and projections are audio-video synched, allowing visitors to listen to what they are viewing in their own language, and at a distance from the screen. As it is a heavily-visited museum, this keeps the atmosphere calm and quiet.

We are also delighted to have our first customer in Manhattan, New York: the Children’s Museum of the Arts. It is a family museum focused on encouraging children’s creativity by giving them an experience of the arts and letting them create their own work together with artists. The museum will be using Podcatchers for its temporary exhibitions, starting with their new exhibition ‘Maker Maker’. The fact that this museum has taken on our technology proves that the Podcatcher truly is for young and old alike!

Of course, we are certainly not neglecting our existing customer base. We are proud that Powerscourt Gardens has been nominated for a tourism innovation award for their audio tour.

Another fine project, which we are looking forward to serving, is the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, California. This maritime museum is dedicated to the USS Midway, a renowned aircraft carrier. With annual visitor numbers of 1.4 million, this is a very large new customer that we welcome to the Guide ID family of clients! The audio tour there will be available on Podcatchers as of January 2018. Our next newsletter will update you on how this project is going.

If you are wondering what great projects are coming next, keep tabs on our coming soon page!

There are several dates planned in the UK and Ireland in June and July too, so don’t miss your chance.
